Mathias Mangels

Managing Partner Brazil – Sao Paulo Office

  • Mathias Mangels was the founder of Symnetics, a leading Latin American management consulting company focused on strategy execution.  In November 2004, Mathias was appointed Vice President of Palladium/BSCol, London UK, and from January 2008 is the controlling partner of Tantum Group Europe.
  • With the creation of 5CCG in 2008 he joined as a Managing Partner.
  • Mathias has extensive research and consulting experience focused on strategy design and execution for private, public and non-profit organisations in the Americas and Europe. His expertise in both theoretical and practical aspects of the Strategy Focused Organization as well as several domains where he has been researching emerging strategies and its implementation such as digital media and publishing, high tech industry and retail. This has been clearly demonstrated in the many articles that have been published in leading business journals.
  • Prior to his role as a consultant, Mathias was the CEO of Maxitec, a manufacturer of electric and electronic equipment in Latin America and, prior to this, a Researcher for strategy studies at the Battelle Research Institute in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Mathias holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mackenzie University) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (INSEAD – Paris, France). Mathias’ mother tongue is Portuguese but he is also fluent in English, German and Spanish as well as understanding written and spoken French.

Angel Garcia-Lascurain

  • Angel García-Lascurain has 10 years banking experience in the largest commercial bank in Mexico, concentrated in corporate planning and international banking activities.
  • Angel also has 13 years experience in top management positions for large telecommunications operators in Mexico and Brazil, concentrated in marketing & sales, business planning, new business development, and international operations. Angel has worked as CMO of Telmex International, overseeing product development and marketing strategies in 7 countries, with strong focus in 3 Play services, value added solutions in an increasingly converged industry: Digital Media. Also experienced in advertising strategy (successfully launched the Telmex brand in the Latam region, using both traditional and digital media solutions). He also served as Executive Director of Embratel in Brazil, heading its International Business Unit. He also was the Country Manager for NextWave Wireless in Mexico, a US based leading fourth-generation Broadband Wireless technology company that develops and manufactures chips, devices, infrastructure equipment and Rich Media solutions.
